The data calculation for the WeatherRadar is carried out directly by Weather & Radar. We analyze parameters such as temperature, humidity and much more from all available measurement data using optimal methods. In doing so, we filter out the countless erroneous measurements that many sensors provide. This is why the weather & radar home does not have its own measuring sensors for outdoors. This has the advantage that the device is maintenance -free and no batteries need to be replaced. Measurement errors occuring on site due to unfavorable installed sensors are also avoided. 

The device is designed for permanent operation and shows all relevant information about the current weather on an angle-stable HD display for your selected location or a location across Europe determined by localization. Using the zoom function, you can select the radar area to be displayed. The unique benefit of the weather & radar home is that you can still easily recognize the displayed information from a certain distance as you walk by, without the need for further action. In particular, this means that you do not have to activate the device by touching it or even unlock it by entering a password. It is always ready and shows you the latest weather information at any time.

The displayed radar image continuously updates itself just like the weather forecast. The WeatherRadar image updates automatically every 5 minutes. Data calculation is done directly by Weather & Radar. Based on all available data, we analyse metrics such as temperature, humidity and much more using optimal methods. Thereby, we directly extract the countless erroneous measurements provided by many measurement sensors. Therefore, the weather & radar home does not have its own sensors for outdoors. 

There is also the option to display additional weather information on the side of the display. This includes information on wind speed and direction, relative humidity, air pressure, a pollen count index, and sunrise as well as sunset times. Currently, further information cannot be retrieved with the weather station. 

The weather & radar home works worldwide. The device determines its location automatically during setup or by input. Any location worldwide can be set. You can change the displayed location at any time and also choose from the previously selected locations under the "My location" menu item.

weather & radar home can display the humidity outdoors as well as indoors. The outdoor humidity can be displayed on the right-hand side of the screen if desired, along with numerous other values. You can set which weather data should be displayed in the settings under weather data. The indoor humidity (and temperature) is measured by an integrated sensor and displayed at the bottom left of the screen. This information on temperature and humidity can help with efficient heating and ventilation, for example.

In general, smart home products do not require a high bandwidth, but a stable connection with wide coverage. Therefore, the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi is the better choice for such products. The 5 GHz Wi-Fi serves more as a supplement for products that require a higher bandwidth, for example for streaming media content.

Since the weather & radar home is designed for continuous operation, no damage is expected. However, we recommend reducing the times the display is switched on, because the brightness of the LEDs for the backlight will reduce over time. In order to delay this as long as possible, the display brightness is automatically lowered to a small extent after sunset. At sunrise, the set brightness is restored slowly.
 

The power consumption is 6 watts when the display is on and 0.15 watts when the display is off. The daily data usage cannot be quantified accurately since it depends on the weather conditions as well as the daily operating time. It is about 500 to 1000 MB daily, assuming that the device is active for 17 hours. The default operating time is from 6 am to 11 pm, which can be changed in the settings.

Warnings on the weather & radar home should not be compared with warnings on our website. On our website, the yellow warning level is displayed as well, which corresponds to an advanced warning or warning of significant, but not extreme weather events. On the weather & radar home, a warning is only displayed if we expect exceptionally severe developments. This roughly corresponds to the regions that are warned with the colour red on our website.

The weather & radar home uses your Wi-Fi to determine the location. Known information about the Wi-Fi is used to determine the location via a Google service. If this Google service saved an incorrect location for your Wi-Fi, this unfortunately cannot be adjusted by resetting and restarting the device.

There are several possibilities why Google has stored an incorrect location in its database. The most common is that the router was previously used in another location and therefore an outdated location is stored in the Google database.

In this case, we recommend that you enter your location manually. Since weather & radar home is designed for a fixed position, this location will not or will rarely change.

The station uses the following color scheme:

Blue shades = rain
Pink = hail
Pink shades with snowflake = snow 
Orange/red = freezing rain
Yellow dots = lightning
Orange dots = high lightning activity

Generally, the more intense the colors, the heavier the precipitation. On page 4 of the manual you will find a more detailed description.

A permanent power supply is necessary to operate the weather & radar home. Since the device constantly retrieves current, high-resolution images specifically for the selected location via Wi-Fi, a battery supply is not sufficient. Traditional weather stations can operate with a battery because they only passively receive the transmitted signal, cannot obtain precise location-based data and do not show a detailed weather radar.

Yes, weather & radar home works in Switzerland. The weather & radar home determines its location automatically or by input during setup. You can set any location worldwide. You can of course change the displayed location at any time and also choose from the last 3 previously selected locations under the "My location" menu item.

However, delivery to Switzerland is not possible due to complex shipping and customs policies. In order to receive the device, we recommend shipping to a parcel locker in Germany near the Swiss border. Alternatively, you can also make your purchase through Galaxus

The selected location is indicated by a red dot in the middle of the screen. There is no further setting option for highlighting the selected location.

Humidity as well as various other values can be displayed if desired. Under weather data in the settings, you can define which weather data should be displayed.

There is no possibility to display the values for more than one location at the same time. However, you can always search for a different location via the menu and display the data for this location. Quick access to the location selection is possible if you tap directly on the red point symbolizing the device location.

The device does not require weather sensors for outdoor use. Precipitation is therefore not measured on site. The current precipitation and the short-term development are displayed on the WeatherRadar image.

Yes, there is a weather forecast for the next 3 days in the form of symbols at the bottom of the display. In addition, weather & radar home shows the weather trend with maximum and minimum temperatures for the next 14 days.

A zoom function has been available since the end of 2020. You will see the corresponding slider after tapping the time at the bottom of the display.

Does the weather & radar home have an update option?

Of course, we will provide updates for the device. This is done entirely automatically - you do not need to change any further settings.

Alternatively, you can search for updates manually. Tap the time and go to the settings. Navigate to System  and then tap Version.

The power consumption of weather & radar home is approx. 6 watts when the display is switched on and 0.15 watts when it is switched off.
You can easily select the screen brightness and operating times of weather & radar home to reduce power consumption.

weather & radar home is exclusively available in white.

weather & radar home 1 has been developed as a standing device. A mounting system is therefore not provided.
From the 2nd version onwards, weather & radar home can also be mounted on the wall. You can find a special wall mounting set for this in our store.
